Working Day and Night

Progression is s- l- o- w  on the house renovations.  Chipping away little by little with a small pile of rubble to show for our hard work. The shower screen, hand basin and vanity have been removed from the main bathroom. The laundry tub removed and half the wall pulled down. There was moisture behind the wall where the laundry taps had been leaking but the timber studs look ok.

The floor tiles are stacked in the middle of the family room. Pulling this old lino up is going to be a b*tch. I can’t remember who  laid it originally but they sure didn’t go sparingly with the glue.

Before the tiles can go down I need to paint the ceilings and walls. Off to Bunnings to buy the paint, rollers, trays, painting pots, and paint brushes. I had already picked the colour but not a particular brand. The day I went to Bunnings, Taubmans were having a special on the Taubmans Endure range. The blurb says;

Taubmans Endure is engineered with Nanoguard®, which provides maximum protection for your walls. It has an interlocking molecular structure that creates a protective shield so everyday dirt and stains can be wiped away without compromising the quality of the paint. It provides excellent mould and mildew protection so you have a cleaner and healthier home environment. It is one of the most advanced paint technologies available today. Taubmans Endure Interior Walls have been approved by the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice Program. Products approved by the Sensitive Choice Program may help people with asthma and allergies. (Sounds great and the price sounded even better. Load it up.)

To cover the blue walls and dark purple in one of the bedrooms,  I will use a grey primer then 2 coats of tiger white. The other walls are antique white so wont need a primer. They will also be painted tiger white.

On a random note, two things caught my eye today that made me smile. Firstly was this guy enjoying a day out on Bramble Bay;

Then there was this guy who pulled over, picked a couple of branches off a tree, hopped back on his bike and rode off. See the greenery poking out of his bag?

  1. What a project! It’s the kind of thing that I really enjoy – creating a transformation – but I know there are parts of it that seem to go on forever.

  4. That’s s some job you’ve tackled. I’m to old to take those on anymore but the man who takes care of our yard is a contractor so we’re lucky to have him when we need something done.

    • Glad to read you have a good contractor. They’re hard to find so hold on to him 🙂 Yes, this is a big job but extremely satisfying. My sore muscles may argue that though.
